The Putnam Special Services District is the geographical area formerly known as the “City of Putnam”, consisting of Putnam’s downtown business district and neighborhoods in the northwest corner of the town. The Putnam Special Services District is governed by the Putnam Special Services District Authority, a five member elected board. This elected board has oversight of the Putnam Police Department and Putnam Fire Department.
All inhabitants dwelling within the territorial limits of the Putnam Special Services District, hereinafter called “the District” may hold and exercise all powers and privileges consistent with the provisions of the Putnam Special Services District Authority Charter.

The Putnam SSD Monthly Public Meeting is held on the second Monday of each month and is a public meeting that covers matters related to the Putnam Police Department, Putnam Fire Department and any/all other special service district concerns.
